Last year at Baselworld, Frederique Constant released its first ever in-house perpetual calendar wristwatch. It was not only gorgeous but also had a somewhat affordable price tag under $10,000. Well, this year Frederique Constant is back with a strong follow-up in the affordable complications category with its first ever in-house flyback chronograph, all for less than $4,000.
The new Flyback Chronograph Manufacture features the automatic caliber FC-760, a new flyback chronograph movement that took six years to develop. Frederique Constant took inspiration from chronograph designs from the 1930s to create this new caliber and watch. The movement is a modular design with a star-shaped column wheel, which allows for a smoother start-stop-reset function. The movement has a 38-hour power reserve and is an "in-line" flyback chronograph, allowing for more efficient stopping and resetting.

So what about the outside of the watch? Well it is is equally impressive. The Flyback Chronograph Manufacture is available in two metals – stainless steel and rose gold–plated stainless steel. Furthermore, each metal has three dial options: silvered, dark grey with baton indexes, and silvered with hobnail texture and Roman numerals. It's worth noting, however, that the steel with dark grey dial and the rose gold–plated with silver hobnail dial and Roman numerals will not be available to the U.S. market.
The case measures 42mm in diameter and features rectangular chronograph buttons. The dial has an unusual three register layout with running seconds, a 30-minute totalizer, and a date register getting the three spots. The dial without hobnail detailing features a tachymeter scale around the perimeter. It's a really good looking watch and will surely be a huge hit with all you vintage fans out there.
The rose gold plated steel with dark grey dial retails for $3,995, while both the steel with hobnail dial and Roman numerals and the rose gold–plated with plain silvered dial are both $4,295. For more, visit Frederique Constant online.
